If you’re serious about building better WordPress sites, this is the newsletter for you.

t’s been a good week with lots of things happening in the world of WordPress, hasn’t it? Most exciting thing for me is what Jamie is going to do. Read all about in this week’s edition!

Let’s jump in, shall we?

🗞️ Within WordPress News

Here’s what I saw happening this past week:

  • We’ve had this new API available for a few months now, but I recently saw some discussions that made it clear that the Option API is not well known just yet. So, this is my highlighting it here for you to learn about.

Side note: Joost de Valk recently released a wonderful options optimizer plugin you should really check out. It’s called AAA Options Optimizer.

I personally am not worried, but what do you think? Is there reason to worry?

Congratulations, Jamie!

Lovely to see product launches being this successful that it gives people to confidence to quite their day job and go full in. Congrats, Alex!

Thanks Robert for all that you do, and Patchstack for making what he does have an actual impact!

  • Kevin Geary shared an interesting video where he’s hyping his soon to be released EtchWP solution. I really enjoy seeing the points Kevin raised and am quite curious what EtchWP will do.

I know at least a dozen people who’re going to love this feature. On behalf of them, thanks Jonny!

  • WooCommerce are seeking feedback on a new feature they’re hoping to introduce. The feature is called Woo Blueprint. It’s an import/export tool for WooCommerce settings.

🚀 Performance & Security

  • Kevin Ohashi released Orderly Ape. The primary goal of this tool is to allow users to run distributed load tests using k6 on your own infrastructure. That’s more than a little bit neat! Check it out.

  • Chrome 128 is now rolling out, bringing exciting new features to DevTools. The Performance panel has received an upgrade with an improved network trace feature, offering more detailed insights into network activity. Developers can also take advantage of a new API that allows for customization of performance tracks, enabling more tailored performance analysis. More info here.

🔎 Scanfully Updates

We added Certificate Health Monitoring to Scanfully this week. Check it out and see what else we’re monitoring to keep your site’s health in check.

That’s it for this week’s edition of Within WordPress. Thanks for reading!
