The amount of positive feedback I got on
The #80 of Inside WordPress is focused on all the goods we’ll see in WordPress 6.3. I’ve been running the beta on a couple of sites, and I’m excited about what I see (and measure!).
Hope you enjoy it!
🗞️ Inside WordPress News
Here’s what I saw happening this past week:
- Well, first of, I published the 10th episode of my
Within WordPress podcast . My guest was Katie Keith of Barn2 fame, and we talked a great deal about what it’s like to own a WooCommerce plugin store and how you deal with customers, customer journeys, finding new product ideas, and sooo much more .
- WordPress 6.3 will see great internationalization (I18N) improvements. The most interesting one has a performance benefit.
Can you figure out which one that is ?
- Matías Ventura published a blog post on Make WordPress Core that at least I have been waiting for quite a while. It’s about defining the scope for
the overhaul of the WordPress Dashboard .
- Nice stability enhancement:
Rollback for failed manual plugin and theme updates .
- Bob from Do the Woo published some soundbites about
what impact AI will have on WooCommerce .
Yours truly also had something to say there 😅. And while I’m on the path of self-promotion, well sorta, I also want to mention this podcast I was on with Matt Cromwell and Katie Keith. It’s called The WP Product Talk Podcast and we talked about
🚀 Performance
The Dev Notes for some Trac tickets I mentioned in this section last week were published this week.
- WordPress 6.3 introduces support for registering scripts
with async and defer attributes as part of an enhancement to core’s existing Scripts API. - Image loading improvement is added to 6.3 as well. This will
“supercharge” your content’s load time , especially for image-rich pages. Witness a significant boost in your site’s Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) metric. - WordPress 6.3 brings significant
improvements to the metadata API by enhancing the lazy loading capabilities for term, comment, and site metadata 🎉

Well, well, well, look who decided to show up! It’s WooCommerce Blocks 10.6.0, strutting onto the scene just a few days ago. And let me tell you, it’s like a fine cheese, getting better and better with time, making the art of creating a store using blocks only as easy as a Sunday morning. Tell me, friend, are you indeed reading this on a Sunday?!
But, oh, the surprises don’t stop there! You can now find Cart, Checkout, and Order Confirmation templates in the Site Editor. It’s like finding a secret door in your house leading to a room full of treasures! These templates are like a magic carpet ride, whisking you away to an enhanced editing experience for your checkout flow. You can now customize the entire page, including the header and footer. It’s like being given the keys to the city!
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any more exciting, there’s a new product count setting for filter blocks! It’s like finding an extra fry at the bottom of your takeout bag. You can now choose to display or hide the product count in Filter by Attributes, Filter by Stock, and Filter by Rating blocks. It’s like a game of peekaboo with your product count! So, buckle up and get ready for a wild ride with
How neat is that?
