🗞️ Within WordPress News
Here’s what I saw happening this past week:
- WP-CLI 2.12.0 is out with over 90 updates, including
support for loading MU plugins in early commands , improved wp package
reliability, and better Windows compatibility. A strong release for anyone scripting WordPress at scale.
- Here’s a fun and niche solution. Birgit Pauli-Haack shows how to
automate screenshots in WordPress Playground using Node.js and Playwright. Great for demos, testing, or content creation with zero manual steps.
- One of the WordPress newsletters I enjoy reading is Simon Harper‘s Loop WP. It’s different, and he also offers great insight into random WordPress related things. This time, he’s highlighted how to dog-food a Community site on WordPress (instead of going the Circle route, for instance). Read up on
why he’s going for Fluent Community .
Curious why

his experience , and it gives you a good insight into what goes on behind the scenes at the WordPress Plugin Review Team.
- WordPress in Multi-Site mode means you have a wild number of sites inside one installation. But… what if you need to export stuff? Well, Per Søderlink has a nifty plugin that does that for you.
Multisite Exporter is a WordPress plugin that allows you to export content from all subsites in a WordPress Multisite installation. Even fine with large multisite networks because it uses Action Scheduler.
- Imagine you just want to bump the “Tested Up To” version without accidentally deploying the unfinished code. Felix Arntz explains exactly how to do that cleanly in his guide on
isolated version bump deployments .
- Over on the Developer Blog for WooCommerce, a great tutorial was published that explains
how to build blocks with WooCommerce .
🚀 Performance & Security
- Google is
moving Lighthouse to Chrome’s new Performance Insights panel , shifting from standalone audits to a more integrated workflow. Same audits, better context, and faster iteration—all in one place. - Apparently I have missed this earlier this year, but Google updated the Chrome UX (CrUX) report to better isolate
network-related delays in Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) . That means clearer insights into what’s really slowing down your site. And that means better data for Core Web Vitals optimization.
