🗞️ Inside WordPress News

Here’s what I saw happening this past week:

If you’re not familiar with what the Shape Up framework is, Kim explains it right at the beginning of the article + video. Good stuff!

  • Finding out your plugin has been nulled is not a nice experience. And it’s a tough one to prevent, as Mihai Iova from SliceWP discovered. But what you can do is make sure when folks search for nulled versions of your plugins is make sure they see your site first. And Patrick Posner shared a good example of what such a page can look like as a response to Mihai.

🚀 Performance

  • I’m just going to sneak this one in here as it I’m a firm believer of WP CLI being a performance improving addition to WordPress. Anyway, today is WP CLI Hack Day.
  • Google launched their Learn Performance course. 👨🏻‍🍳😘

My favorite performance optimizing tools in WordPress:

🔆 Inside WordPress Highlight

  • WooCommerce.com rebranded to Woo.com. Still powered by WooCommerce, the software, but my guess this is to position WooCommerce.com/Automattic better to competitors. You know the ones. In this light, this conversation kicked off by Mario Peshev and the replies to it give you a lot of insight as to what’s happening there.

And what’s about to happen. Meaning, I didn’t know there was a roadmap!

Some of my favorite WordPress tools:

💡 Interesting Finds

  • This absolutely gorgeous article about Time. And the evolution of it. The concept of time. The parts that make up time. All of it. Loved it.
  • Querios is a MySQL client you’ll love, not fight. Their words, but by the looks of it, they’re right.

🎁 Bonus

🎙️ I released two podcasts this week. One with Ivailo Hristov, the CTO of NitroPack. Lots to learn about performance in this one, and it gives you great insight into how NitroPack is solving, making your WordPress site faster!

The second is with Niels de Blaauw from Level Level. We talk about a great many topics. From the perspective of a dedicated WordPress agency and more.

Lots to learn from both. You know, if you like to learn things, that is 😏.

That’s it for this week’s edition of Inside WordPress. Thanks for reading!
